Position Overview

The Director of Strategy plays a critical role in shaping client success by combining strategic insight with hands-on account leadership. This position is responsible for conducting research, analyzing market trends, and developing data-driven recommendations while also managing client relationships and ensuring seamless execution of marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Conduct in-depth research on client industries, audience behaviors, and competitive landscapes to uncover opportunities.
  • Develop data-driven strategies that inform brand positioning, marketing campaigns, and business growth initiatives.
  • Build and maintain audience personas to enhance targeting, messaging, and creative development.
  • Identify emerging trends, tools, and platforms that can drive client success and differentiation.
  • Oversee performance tracking and campaign analysis, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Lead strategy development for client proposals and pitches, ensuring a strong, research-backed approach, and lead the presentation of the proposals and pitches to clients.
  • Collaborate with creative and marketing teams to produce thought leadership content, including case studies, white papers, and webinars.
  • Identify opportunities for account growth through strategic recommendations, upsells, and cross-sells.
  • Translate research and insights into strategic roadmaps that align with client objectives and drive results.

Client & Account Management

  • Serve as the strategic partner and primary point of contact for assigned clients, fostering trust and long-term relationships.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans that align with client goals and business objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of client projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Provide regular performance reports, insights, and recommendations to clients.
  • Proactively identify and resolve client challenges, ensuring high satisfaction and retention.
  • Manage contracts, renewals, and scopes of work to align with both client needs and agency capabilities.
  • Partner with sales and business development teams to support client acquisition, onboarding, and growth.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of client industries and market trends to provide relevant recommendations.

Director-Level Leadership

  • Team Leadership and Development: Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing strategy team to exceed client and company expectations.
  • Performance Management & Professional Growth: Regularly evaluate team performance, provide constructive feedback, and create development plans to nurture career growth.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously improve workflows, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and project outcomes.
  • Strategic Oversight: Align project initiatives with organizational goals, ensuring optimal resource allocation and strategic execution.
  • Client & Team Conflict Resolution: Serve as an escalation point to navigate and resolve conflicts, fostering productive relationships among stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in brand strategy, marketing, or account management within an agency or related industry.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between 10-20% of the time.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Proven track record in managing client relationships and driving business growth.
  • Experience working with digital media channels, marketing analytics tools, CRM systems, and research platforms.
  • Ability to balance big-picture strategic thinking with tactical execution.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams toward success.
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on client satisfaction and team collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (PMP or similar certification is a plus).

What We Offer

The compensation package will be dependent upon experience but structured to be competitive and ensure long-term incentives for the candidate. Our standard package includes a competitive base salary, 20 days PTO + 10 paid holidays, 401K Safe harbor and profit sharing with a 3% match, group health insurance, and FSA.
